Key Signatures: Learn why they matter and how they can improve your musicianship skills.
Scales: Don't just learn the scales, internalize them and recognize scales in different contexts.
Intervals, Triads, and Sevenths: The building blocks of music. Learn why these components must be mastered and how to learn to internalize them both theoretically and aurally.

Students are not required to attend Zoom sessions, but it is highly recommended for success in the course. This course is designed for undergraduates, if you would like to take a graduate prep course, please book a call.
Reserve three hours for each meeting, but meetings will go as long as needed to fully address subjects. Most meetings will last between 1-2 hours.

Discussion of key signatures, and we also introduce foundational ear training exercises.
Discussion of major and minor scales. During this session, students will learn tips for learning these scales quickly and thoroughly. Aural identification of these scales will also be emphasized.
This is an introduction to identifying intervals and triads. Students will be taught a technique to learn these concepts. Ear training focuses on dissonant intervals this week.
While seventh chords are not normally included on undergraduate entrance exams, we will introduce the topic. Ear training will focus on techniques for hearing chords.
