Lesson Updates

There will be no changes to the lesson formats this month. However, after last month, I would like to make 3 lessons per month the new standard. Now that the system is set up and working properly, lesson responses should only take 24 hours. In January I will be adding a video component to students that are taking advanced lessons.

50-Minute Lessons

These students will receive 3 lessons per month for a total of 150-minutes.

100-Minute Lessons

These students will receive 3 lessons per month for a total of 300-minutes.

Lesson Dates

Lesson dates can be determined by checking the studio. The dates for the rest of the year are available in the studio. If I have to change a lesson date for any reason, I will notify you through the studio. Dates will always be pushed forward, and there will always be at least 7 days between lesson submissions.

Course Updates

Music theory will be available on January 1st. At this point, with the year coming to a close, it is best to start all new courses in 2012. In the interim, you will receive individual music theory, counterpoint, and form assignments based on your needs and current level.

Composers Forum

We have had more activity this month than in previous months. I encourage you to post your compositions and interact with the other students in the forum. As always, I will respond to all posts made within the studio.

I encourage each of you to introduce yourself. A good format for introductions includes the following elements:

  • Your name, or pseudonym.
  • Your instrument or instruments.
  • How long you have been taking lessons.
  • Some strengths and weaknesses or what you hope to learn from lessons.
  • Any interesting fact about yourself that you think other students should know.

I will keep the forum active and check in as needed to respond to any posts or questions. If you have a question, announcement, or concert that you feel would be beneficial to the composition student community, please feel free to stop in and mention it.

For those not aware, it is available within The Composers Studio.
